A betrayal of Jesus
See this video by Jennifer Roach about the sad history of women in Christianity. A history that betrays the message and work of Jesus. One tragic response to the youtube post of the video was:
“Sometimes I wish God had made me a man. I feel that He cursed me by making me a woman sometimes.”
It would be one thing if we could look at our history and say we are beyond this. Then we could see these men as products of their time and leave it at that. However, negative ideas about women remain and are alive and well. Not only in the hearts of men but of women. The spiritual implications are immense.

Thank you for the link Lilian!
I can relate so much to that quote. The kind of Christianity I grew up in told me that everything about women (about me!) was untrustworthy. Emotions couldnt be trusted, and women were too emotional.
I am so grateful that there are other kinds of Christianity to follow.
Thank you for the link. Thank you for your books. At 47 years of age I have been having a crisis of faith, after being told, not for the first time, that women can’t be teachers/preachers/leaders because they sinned first. The church and my family have been my whole life. I have researched other faiths and even the goddess movement – all felt wrong for me. Your book, Chasing Sophia, has given me hope that as a woman my only choices are not to live as a second-class church member or seek another path entirely. I see myself as loved of God now, important to His work in the world and worthy of his sacrifice for me.
